Kit allows either straight diesel, SVO, WVO or combination of both. Powered by vegetable oil, such as soybean oil can give operators a 25 to 80 percent savings on fuel. The first larger marine diesel conversion was with Detroit Diesel / MTU units on a 100 ft. passenger vessel in Bellingham, WA. The unit is currently going under US Coast Guard approval. The vessel will use WVO (waste vegetable oil) to supplement its diesel fuel operations. Two propulsion units and one generator set have been converted. Deltech Ltd. was the firm performing and supervising the installation. Global Energy is a authorized dealer and distributor of the conversion kits and offers bulk vegetable oil delivered anywhere in the world. With a great deal of refinery capacity down or delaying in the southern US, the centralized refinery system to produce fuel is flawed. Ocean Ethanol has a concept of decentralizing refineries to produce fuel via distributed production. This fuel could be produced on-demand via miniplants located throughout the country. The miniplant concept could even be implemented at every gas station, where ethanol could be blended at the the pump. Modular Block System for Gas and Liquid Process http://www.modularblock.com Ocean Ethanol LLC announces its industrial Lego system that allows scientists, inventors, and industry to construct pipe systems via the use of modular blocks. Channels are bored into blocks that eliminate the need for pipefitting by simply bolting blocks together. Systems can be horizontal, vertical, or a combination of both. Blocks have center element that can be replaced with microchannel reactors for producing liquid and gas reactions such as ethanol, methanol, and hydrogen production for fuels that are used in fuel cells. Ethanol Produced from CO2 and Hydrogen http://www.oceanethanol.com Ocean Ethanol LLC announces success in its catalyst development to produce ethanol from CO2 (Carbon Dioxide). CO2 is considered a greenhouse gas, and has international value via the Kyoto Protocol. Credits can be bought, sold and traded. As part of its development program, Ocean Ethanol will also introduce the concept of distributed fuel production via the use of miniplants. These point-of-use devices can be installed in small applications, such as gas stations where ethanol can be blended at the pump. Reverse Fuel Cell for the Production of Methanol http://www.oceanethanol.com Ocean Ethanol LLC announces its development program to make methanol from CO2 utilizing a reverse fuel cell. The concept is derived from distributed fuel production that decentralizes larger refineries to a fuel production unit that can fit in the palm of your hand. Such a device can be used on any scale to utilize the greenhouse gas CO2 to make fuels. The application of this device would be for methanol fuel cell refueling, which could be provided via a vending machine or home unit. The customer would need CO2, water and electricity to make methanol. In addition, the device can be used in scientific labs or in the production of miniature biodiesel processing plants where methanol is used in smaller quantities. Such a device eliminates the hazards associated with transportation as well as storage, since the unit produces methanol on-demand. CO2 can be purchased in bottles, made (from vinegar and baking soda) or even sequestered from powerplants, ethanol plants, or any source of waste CO2. http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss Tue, 07 Feb 2006 01:47:37 -0500 Tue, 07 Feb 2006 09:47:23 -0500 Filemaker Millenium Engine RSS Feedmaker
